Believe, Achieve, Succeed
Religious Education Statement of Intent
The principal aim of R.E. is to engage pupils in systematic enquiry. We discuss significant human questions, which religion and worldviews address, so that they can develop the understanding and skills needed to appreciate and appraise varied responses to these questions, as well as develop responses of their own.
At Stalyhill Junior School, we aim to equip children with knowledge, understanding and respect for all people and their beliefs. We believe that learning and understanding each other’s religions, faiths and beliefs is a strength, and is key to a cohesive, accepting society. R.E. explores big questions about life, to find out what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can make sense of religion, reflect on their own ideas and ways of life. We aim to provide children with an enhancing learning experiences which raises awareness from the local area, to national and global arenas. Therefore, we aim to develop outward looking pupils who are able to engage in learning about themselves as well as have an understanding of the wider world and celebrate the beauty in its diverse cultures.
