Music Statement of Intent
At Stalyhill Junior School, we want our children to be inspired by music. We aim to provide a high quality music curriculum which enables children to develop a love of music whilst increasing confidence, creativity and a sense of achievement. We believe music is a unique method of communication and a universal language. It provides a sense of community. Children have the opportunity to listen to, respond to, create, play, perform and enjoy music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions. We celebrate the diversity of music and learn to appreciate its many forms. We recognise that music can be a highly academic and demanding subject and we celebrate the skills and talents of those who pursue it to a higher level.
All children have the opportunity to learn to play a brass instrument and join our thriving school choir who perform at school events and concerts.
