Art and Design Statement of Intent
At Stalyhill Junior School, our art and design curriculum stimulates creativity, sets challenges, engages, and inspires children to enable them to reach and exceed their artistic potential. They are equipped with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. Our curriculum provides visual and tactile sensory experiences to understand and respond to the world. Children of all abilities are able to communicate what they see, feel and think through the use of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials and processes.
We encourage the children to explore ideas and meanings through the work of a range of artists, designers and architects. Through learning about the roles and functions of art, they can explore the impact it has had on contemporary life and that of different times and cultures. The appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts enriches all our lives at Stalyhill Junior School.
