London Chess Classic 2017

A team of 12 children represented our school at the London Chess Classic on 5th December. They had a very long day, catching the train from Manchester Piccadilly at 6.45am and returning at 8.00pm.

Their behaviour throughout the day was impeccable and members of the public congratulated us on this.

During the day the children received a Chess Masterclass and attended a Chess Show where they learnt how Ron, Hermione and Harry Potter used their Chess skills.

Jude took to the grand stage and played a live match which was relayed on a giant screen to the audience. Despite being pitted against a boy from an older age group he played really well. In the afternoon all the children played five games each in an inter school tournament. Although there were no medals this year the children put in an excellent performance - especially since we were the smallest team by far. Many thanks to our PTA who provided the funding for the trip. We really appreciate it.

A great day out - well done everyone!
